Join us today, Monday 7th April at 2pm at the Designing Worlds studio in Garden of Dreams for a special viewing party of today’s show as we visit the Linden Endowment for the Arts to learn about the new volunteer program to help visitors, find out about the structure of the LEA – and visit a few art installations as well!

Firstly we meet up with Oberon Onmura, Artist and LEA Committee Member, Honour McMillan, LEA Committee Member and leader of the volunteer program, and JMB (Jo) Balogh, an LEA Volunteer. They tell us about the LEA, and the new program – and what being a volunteer really means! There’s an explanation of how the regions work – and we learn about ambitious plans to expand the nature of Arts covered.

And then we visit three remarkable installations created by artists who are near the beginning of their five month residencies.

At The Creature from the Black Lagoon, we talk to the artist Livio Korobase, with Slatan Dryke translating from the Italian for us.

Then we visit a work in progress – The Garden of Earthly Delights, inspired by the painting by Hieronymous Bosch, and created in Second Life by Tomm Pye. It’s a great chance to see an evolving work – something that the artists at the LEA often choose to share.

And finally we visit an installation that is evolving in a different way, in a series of chapters, as we look in on The {Lost} Garden Of Sundarya Lahari and talk to the artist Xineohp Guisse (who tells us how and why he got his remarkable name!).

Kayle has been creating his amazing Dreamscenes – a portable and expandable system of stunningly designed skyboxes – and landscapes for a number of years, and we have featured some of these as settings for shows – a Thanksgiving Dinner featured the Piano Bar and Dining Room, and the gorgeous library was used in The Blackened Mirror.

We also look at Kayle’s stunning work for Fantasy Faire.

His ability to move with the times and incorporate new ideas and developments in the platform has led to his latest creation (which I wrote about earlier in the year) the Atelier. And there’s a special surprise to be glimpsed through the windows here for all steampunk fans!

Designing Worlds’ show about SL Go is now on the web!

This show comes in two parts. In the segment listed above (the regular Designing Worlds show), we talk to Nate Barsetti, Senior Manager, Customer Relations, OnLive, and also Danger Linden, aka Don Laabs, Senior Director of Product at Linden Lab. We’ll also be showing how SL Go works in different formats.

Then you can see the live discussion that followed the main part of the show, where Nate answered questions from the audience about issues such as pricing, and how using SL Go would affect issues with lag at popular events such as Relay for Life or Burn 2.

Nate Barsetti and Danger Linden will be discussing SL Go on today's special Designing Worlds show

It’s important to remember that this is an OnLive initiative, developed in co-operation with Linden Lab, but not a Linden Lab product. When I spoke to Danger Linden, Head of Product at the Lab, he said he saw it as more analogous to Linden Lab working with a third party viewer. Watch the show – and the discussion – to find out more!

This show will be shown again at our regular time of 2pm on Monday 10th March, with a viewing party in our Garden of Dreams studio.
