Join our show today, Tuesday 6th April, when we’ll be live in our Northpoint studio at 2pmSLT, and exploring the work of Gracie Kendal, the well-known Second Life artist.
Our exhibition hall – and the beach outside – is hosting some of Gracie’s work (and will be doing so for the next month). We will be talking to her about these and the ideas that lie behind them on the show.
But we’ll also be looking at Gracie’s recent work on the nature of avatars and real identity, as many people have been following through her account of it on her blog: The Gracie Kendal Project – A Conversation with my Avatar. Gracie’s installation, Me, My Alts and I is located on our Mezzanine floor, and we’ll be talking about the ways that this project has changed her perceptions – and its thought-provoking consequences for all people who have an avatar.
If you would like to read more about Gracie’s art, there is a thought provoking article by Rowan Derryth on the Prim Perfect blog, as part of her Ekphrasis column on Art in Second Life.
People attending the show today and in for a very special treat. Not only will they receive a gift of an artwork by Gracie herself, but the live show will be followed, at 3pm, by a launch party for the exhibition, with an hour of jazz music supplied by Gabrielle Riel, the woman behind the fabulous Radio Riel.
The show starts at 2pm SLT, but you should be in our Northpoint studios by 1.30pm to make sure of getting a seat. Or tune in at 2pm SLT on Tuesday for the live show – where you can now chat with other audience members and even some of the participants during the show – or catch it later in the week on our shows page on the Treet.tv web site.
