Join us at 2pm today, Monday 16th March for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams, when we’ll be exploring the phenomenal popularity of gacha events, machines and yard sales in Second Life.

We’ll be talking to creators Sway Dench of Sway’s and Robin Sojourner of R(S)W about the experience of creating for gacha events – and also running gachas in their own stores, while Marianne McCann explains how gacha machines are set up for the big gacha event running at the moment, The Arcade.

Then we visit two of the gacha Yard Sales  – Gacha Grove to meet яєуηα Ήσℓίdąƴ  and the Epic Gacha Market to meet Jëẅël̈ Br̈öök̈s̈ and June Marais. Gacha Yard Sales are where people who have bought excess gacha items can re-sell them, sometimes at a large profit, one of the reasons for the continuing popularity of gachas.

Finally, we’ll be visiting Matthew Anthony, a keen fan of gachas – and owner of the Gacha Haus, where he sells all of the goodies he get playing gachas around the grid. But it’s his displays of rare gachas that make a visit to his home (and his food court!) so exciting – and he not only shows off his gachas, but tells the fascinating stories behind many of them.

And as we explore all these aspects of the gacha phenomenon, we ask whether gachas can be considered as a form of gambing in Second Life, and asking those involved whether these events are helping or harming the virtual world economy.

Whether you love or loathe gachas, we think you’ll find this a very interesting show, so do join us, at 2pm today!

The latest episode of Designing Worlds –  exploring some of the many organisations offering inworld training – is now on the web!

NB Ignore the spinning wheel and click the start button!

Then, while Elrik explores the classrooms of New Citizens Incorporated and Builders’ Brewery, Saffia takes a class at Raglan U with Toady Nakamura, ever dauntless, attempting to teach her to build …
