Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 30th May, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams as we explore the new user experience created by Linden Lab.
We’re accompanied by Patch Linden and a large group of Moles (Second Life residents who work from the Linden Department of Public Works) and Lindens responsible for developing and testing areas of Second Life like this. They gave us special access to Learning Island – something that you would normally need to be a new resident to visit. We see the track that has been created for new residents to follow and discuss with Patch and the Moles how this has been developed.
Then we visit Social Island, created as part of the pathway for new residents. This is open to old as well as new residents, and we explore some of the elements on offer, such as a game to test camera skills, stores to buy items (with special currency earned by completing the games). And we discuss some of the problems that have arisen with previous iterations of the process, and how they might be avoided this time.
It makes for an interesting show for anyone who cares about developing retention in Second Life – or who wants to see how the new user experience is developing, so come and join us at 2pm!
Or – if you can’t attend in person – tune in to the web at 2pm SLT on Monday for a showing on SLartist or on Treet – or catch it later in the week on our shows page on the Treet.tv web site at http://treet.tv/shows/designingworlds, on the SLArtist.com channel, the Aview TV Designing Worlds channel – or on the Designing Worlds blog.
