So join us for today’s show at 2pm – you won’t want to miss it!

Or – if you can’t attend in person – tune in to the web at 2pm SLT on Monday for a showing on SLartist or on Treet – or catch it later in the week on our shows page on the Treet.tv web site at http://treet.tv/shows/designingworlds, on the SLArtist.com channel, the Aview TV Designing Worlds channel – or on the Designing Worlds blog.

And we also have news of a special show coming this Thursday, November 3rd at 2pm – with discussion of an announcement from the Lab that will impact all our Second Lives!

The new episode of the new season of Designing Worlds –as we explore three different stunning locations – each with a very individual take on Halloween – is now on the web – and now we’ll tell you how to get there!

Our first destination offers a collection of beautifully constructed Halloween locations, followed by the Fright Ride to end all Fright Rides! Yes, it’s the special Linden Halloween experience, accessed from the Portal Parks and created by Patch Linden and those amazingly clever Moles – some of whom pop up on the show!

You can find the Linden Halloween Experience (with lots of free gifts) here.

Then our second location is a beautifully dark re-interpretation of a classic children’s tale – Neverland. It’s been created by Tymus Tenk and Truck Meredith for their gorgeous Calas Galadhon estate, and Ty says it’s his first venture into major fantasy. It’s gorgeous, with little sinister touches, located over two regions. Do go and explore – but perhaps you don’t want to enquire too deeply into what happened to the Lost Boys!

Start your exploration with a stunning boat ride here – although you’ll need to carry on on foot is you want to reach the final destination – the ballroom!

And our third and final location is a stunning region that draws on a wide variety of horror tropes – can you spot them all?

It’s the Ironwood Hills – a a beautifully spooky region that is available for exploration throughout the year, but currently with some special Halloween touches.

The new episode of the new season of Designing Worlds –as we visit White Tigers Island to learn all about their very special Pirate Hunt – is now on the web.

Joey Aboma and Libby – LibertyBelle Lyric tell us all about their music-loving island community, and about the chain of events that led to them taking over the running of the island, and their creative idea to fund it!

We look in detail at how the community came together to create the Pirate Hunt – which is part scavenger hunt and part adventure game, and we have a lot of fun exploring the various tasks, the amazing builds and the stupendous level of detail! We also meet two of the creators who are supporting the Hunt – Athayus Quan and Tristin Quan Bracken of R&R Swag, Raven’s Blade, Allure, and 360 – who tell us how and why they became involved.

The University of Western Australia in Second Life, photographed by Wildstar Beaumont

The University of Western Australia in Second Life, photographed by Wildstar Beaumont

First – we’ve had some great news … Following a lot of work in the background at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in real life, the UWA presence in Second Life has been extended through to 31st July 2017. Four of the five regions will remain part of the UWA cluster, and the 5th SIM (UWA Virtlantis) is being taken over by the University of San Jose & Sonicity Fitzroy, who have been occupying it for the last couple of years.

As you’ll see in the show, it did look as though the presence of the this major art venue and supporter was – at the very least – going to be scaled back considerably. We’re delighted that this is no longer the case.

So please – enjoy the show!

We talk to JayJay Zifanwe, the academic at the UWA whose project this has been, and to long term curator FreeWee Ling as we look at some examples of the remarkable art that has been collected through challenges and exhibitions over the years, and we hear tributes from a number of leading artists and machinima makers whose artistic lives have been supported and developed through the work of the UWA.

Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 3rd October, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams  –  as we pay homage to the University of Western Australia (UWA) for their support of art in virtual and real worlds, led by JayJay Zifanwe.

Sadly, changes at the University means that the four regions the University has devoted to virtual art in Second Life are likely to be scaled back considerably in the very near future – although there will still a presence here.

The first episode of the new season of Designing Worlds –as we look back at some of the great builds we saw this year at the amazing Relay for Life of Second Life weekend – is now on the web.

We travelled along the track meeting some of the designers of campsites and special designer builds, including Eclair Martinek, Thanatos Souldrinker, Ariana Petrova, and WyldChild Raven of Madd Vibes, Heath and Rory Matters (aka Heath Pevensey and Rory Lamia) and Darkstone Aeon and Bibi Woodford.

The theme of this year’s Relay was Once Upon a Cure – and many of the designers and builders used this to explore stories and fairytales, with stunning results! As you’ll see as we find some beautiful, fascinating and thought-provoking builds along the way.
