Join Designing Worlds today, Monday 27th July at 2pm SLT as we visit one of the most beautiful estates in Second Life – the Grove Country Club Estates.

From 2pm SLT today you can see the show on the Designing Worlds Vimeo channel at: https://vimeo.com/channels/dworlds. Or you can join us for our Watch Party in the beautiful Designing Worlds studios in the Garden of Dreams!

The estate, owned by Crito Galtier, not only has some of the most beautiful homes and landscapes, but also offers a wide range of events and entertainments for residents and their friends.

We talk to Crito and Ginger Bloom Galtier, the Chief Marketing Officer, as well as two of the residents of the Estates, and learn all about living at the Grove Country Club Estates, but also about their spectacular event for Relay for Life of Second Life – Wish Upon a Star – which raised a phenomenal amount!

It all makes for a stunning show – so do join us for the beautiful landscapes – and the Fireworks – at 2pm SLT!

There won’t be a Designing Worlds show this week. Instead you are invited to join us at SL19B, where Saffia will be hosting the first of the Meet the Lindens events at 2pm SLT at the SL19B Arboretum in one of the three audience regions –
SLB Wonderous: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB%20Wonderous/236/2/25
SLB Fascinate: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB%20Fascinate/4/243/25
SLB: Exhilarate: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB%20Exhilarate/235/233/23

Today Saffia will be talking to Patch Linden, who has some exciting news to share. And there’ll be lots to say about Linden Homes too!

If you can’t join us live, then you’ll be able to catch the discussion at: https://youtu.be/g9UJjr7sZxk

Then, over the course of this week, at 2pm SLT every day in the Arboretum, Saffia will be talking to more Lindens – and the Moles.

On Tuesday, in a pre-recorded session, Saffia will be talking to Oberwolf Linden and Philip Linden, talking about strategy, the Metaverse – and much more!

On Wednesday, in a second pre-recorded interview, we meet the Marketing Team, cosisting of Second Life Marketing Team, consisting of Feuling Linden, Chief Marketing Officer, Brett Linden, Vice President of Marketing, Darcy Linden, Director of Marketing, Strawberry, Senior Social Media Manager, Maveric Lindeen, Senior Marketing Analyst, and Emika Linden, Senior Marketing Manager.

Although these two sessions have been pre-recorded (due to the difficulty of matching up schedules), there will be a chance to discuss the issues raised – and questions that can’t be answered can be forwarded from these sessions to the Lab.

On Thursday, Saffia will be talking live to Grimpity and Mojo Linden about technical issues, what they’s been doing over the last year and plans for the future.

And finally on Friday, we’ll have a chance to Meet the Moles, and learn about the vital work these residents working for the Lab are accomplishing.

All the talks will be livestreamed on YouTube, and available afterwards.

Thanks to Strawberry Linden for the livestreaming and the posters!

Poster designed by Miss Breezy Carver

This week we have a very special archive show.

The Designing Worlds Team was saddened to learn this week of the passing of Breezy Carver, for many years one of the leading lights of New Babbage. Breezy was a keen blogger, a stalwart supper of Relay for Life and, as the owner of Piermont Landing in Wheatstone Waterways, New Babbage, a leading hostess for wonderful Balls.

As a tribute to Breezy, this week we shall be showing the episode in which she appeared – the Theft of the Carver Diamonds, featuring not only Breezy and Edward Pearse but, of course, the indomitable Mr Biggins!

You can watch the show here, or on Vimeo at: https://vimeo.com/510126220

Or you can join us at 2pm SLT today at our Watch Party in the beautiful Designing Worlds studios in the Garden of Dreams!

This is a great show, and includes a tour of Piedmont Landing by Breezy herself. Don’t miss it!

Telethon for RFL 2009

This coming weekend sees the climax of Relay for Life of Second Life 2022 – which we will be covering later in the season. So it seems a good time to look back in this week’s show to a former Relay for Life – in 2009.

You can see the show on the Designing Worlds Vimeo channel at: https://vimeo.com/371357132. Or you can join us at 2pm for our Watch Party in the beautiful Designing Worlds studios in the Garden of Dreams!

Firstly we talked to Aeolus Cleanslate and looked at the wonderful New Babbage campsite, from one of the most inentive steampunk sims in the Second Life world – an imagining of an Exposition Universalle, based upon that of 1889 in Paris when the Eiffel Tower was first revealed.  Aeolus Cleanslate explained, how under the Team Captain Breezy Carver, the New Babbage team created this amazing display – and also created the special Mars sim that won the overall prize for best designed sim!

Then we talked to KiVanyel Adria of the Elf Circle, who told us not only about the beautiful build that the Elf Circle had created, but also the full programme of events that the Elves had created to share their community with the wider world. And we spoke with Helena Kiama and Jessie Sinister who were two of the key builders on the beautiful Wonders build, re-creating four of the Wonders of the Ancient World (the ones that they chose were the Temple of Diana at Ephesus, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Lighthouse of Alexandria and the Colossus of Rhodes).

And finally we spoke with Zander Greene and Lauren Thibaud of the Friends Fight Cancer group who had created Anatomica, the most amazing sim, which combined information and a great interactive learning experience about the physiology of cells and cancer – with a fast and furious game where you got to dress in a red suit for surfing the bloodstream and blast cancer cells yourself!

And there was also a stunningly beautiful ballroom in the sky for those who ventured up to 1,500 feet!

Filmed at the 2009 Telethon location, the build designed by Dellybean North and landscaped by Anhayla Lycia.
