The latest episode of Designing Worlds – a very special show, dedicated to Elicio Ember and a special event called Filling the Cauldron – is now on the web!

Elicio’s father has suffered a major stroke, and the family is struggling to meet medical costs associated with his treatment. Since then various groups of people have been putting together ideas, and we’re pleased to announce that we now have THREE ways in which people can and will be able to help Elicio and his family.

Today’s show is therefore a repeat of the show we made last year about Elicio and his work, and his wonderful region – Cerridwen’s Cauldron, a place well worth exploring and at that time newly updated! But we’ve given it a special introduction to explain the situation, and what YOU can do to help.

And full details are also printed at the bottom of this post.

So please join us for a beautful and very special show at 2pm SLT.

Or – if you can’t attend in person – tune in to the web at 2pm SLT on Monday for a showing on SLartist – or catch it later in the week on the SLArtist.com channel, the Aview TV Designing Worlds channel – or on the Designing Worlds blog.

Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 20th February, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams, when we’ll be visiting two places – the MadPea International Food Fair, and the amazing cause it is supporting – Feed a Smile.

We visit the Feed a Smile region and talk to Brique Topaz – Brique Zeiner in real life, who is the the Founder and Chairwoman of the German charity Leben und Lernen in Kenia, Live and Learn in Kenya International, whose project Feed a Smile is, and which is based on the shores of Lake Nakuru in Kenya, where they are building a school for local children, through sponsorship of individual children, and through events in Second Life, such as the International Food Fair.

Brique shows us around areas that are re-creations of the work being done on the ground in Africa, and explains how the Food Fair will be supporting the vital work of building a new kitchen for the school, and we’ll be seeing some films of the work as well.

Then we travel to the International Food Fair and join the organiser, Kestrel Keiroz, to learn what is going on there, with stores, an art gallery and regular music events, and we see some of the amazing food-related items you can purchase (with the money going to Feed a Smile).

Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 23rd January, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams – for the first show in the new season, when we’ll be paying a visit to Virtual Ability.

We’ll be hearing from Gentle Heron, one of the three founders of Virtual Ability, how the Iasland – and the nonprofit  – came to be founded, and something of the design principles that underlie the islands, making them accessible to many kinds of disabilities. And we’ll be learning how they support new residents coming in to Second Life too.

We take a look at Health Island and explore the reading rooms, libraries and displays of various kinds – and above all the Path of Support that offers links the the myriad organisations that have a Second Life presence for a wide range of conditions.

Then we visit some of the residential islands that form a part of Virtual Ability, and meet some of the residents there who talk about their experiences, together with Stepinwolf Darkstone, the Cape Heron Apartments Manager.

Finally, accompanied by Gentle Heron and Suellen Heartsong, we visit a fascinating – and very informative – research project that has been developed on Virtual Health Adventures with Virtual Ability supporting a research project on diabetic foot health – a really important issue for the growing number of people with diabetes.

It all makes for a really interesting start to our Designing Worlds season – so do join us to watch it at 2pm SLT.

The first episode of the new season of Designing Worlds –as we look back at some of the great builds we saw this year at the amazing Relay for Life of Second Life weekend – is now on the web.

We travelled along the track meeting some of the designers of campsites and special designer builds, including Eclair Martinek, Thanatos Souldrinker, Ariana Petrova, and WyldChild Raven of Madd Vibes, Heath and Rory Matters (aka Heath Pevensey and Rory Lamia) and Darkstone Aeon and Bibi Woodford.

The theme of this year’s Relay was Once Upon a Cure – and many of the designers and builders used this to explore stories and fairytales, with stunning results! As you’ll see as we find some beautiful, fascinating and thought-provoking builds along the way.

The latest episode of Designing Worlds – the second of our visits to Fantasy Faire (recorded before the Faire closed on May 1st) – is now on the web.

In this show, we talk to Zander Greene, one of the co-founders of the Faire and also now one of the people behind the fabulous Fantasy Faire Radio, Sweetgwendoline Bailey and Eldowyn Inshan, who designed Twilight Illusion – one of the fourteen amazing regions, Aelva, who organised (and participated in!) the amazing Festival of Dance and Particles, Aisling Sinclair, who produced this year’s much-loved Quest, and Stevie Basevi and other roleplayers who joined us from the mud of Echtra to tell us about roleplay at the Faire.

And there is an extract from the wonderful production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was presented at Fantasy Faire by the Faireland Players.

Ironically, we filmed this show in the quiet days before the Faire opened … so no-one was quite sure that it would be the fantastic success that it was, raising over L$7,714,000 (US$30,875) and producing some amazing stories – many of which you can read on the website.  In fact, the whole website is filled with the story of Fantasy Faire, and well worth a look!
