In this second show we explore some of the builds and talk to designers Kaerri Rae, Bee Cauldron Law and Garvie Garzo, while Reven Rosca of the free perm template store Meshopotamia takes us on a tour of the amazing stores selling various kinds of building aids that were located on Hope3.

And we take a quick peek at the Breedables region (Hope10), which helped to raise a wonderful total for Relay for Life. To date, the Home and Farden Expo has raised a staggering L$ 4,015,966, the equivalent of US$ 16,064.

Then we end the show with a last look at the beautiful lantern ceremony.

The latest episode of Designing Worlds – where we visit the festival for One Billion Rising in Second Life, which took place on 14th February – is now on the web.

One Billion Rising in Second Life is a twenty-four hour one day event in support of the international event One Billion Rising, which aims to build awareness of the violence that women and girls across the globe are subjected to.  In Second Life, across four regions there were art installations and exhibitions,  poetry sessions, storytelling events,  live dance  performances, twenty four hours of music – and also information kiosks that shared information about organisations devoted to promoting justice for women across the globe, and stories of events that were happening around the world.

In the show, we look at some of the elements that went into the event – the amazing video that was shot ahead of the event, part of the particle display by Tansee that was given at the event, one of the dances that were performed in the beautiful Sunflower Theatre, and a full performance of a special play by Bhelanna Blaze, performed by the Cold Shot Ensemble – and, of course, the beautiful and thought provoking art installations that were located all around the perimeter of the event.

The latest episode of Designing Worlds – where we discover more about MadPea, the long established Second Life group behind some of the best and most memorable games in Second Life – is now on the web.

MadPea Logo

We talk to Kiana Writer, the founder of Mad Pea, and Kess Crystal, the marketing director (and even sneak a peek at a planning meeting – but no spoilers!).

And we learn about the remarkable results of the Celebrity Auction held last September in support of Feed a Smile / Live and Learn in Kenya, a nonprofit which supports children in Kenya to help them gain an education. They are currently building a new school, and the money raised at the MadPea auction paid for a classroom – which has already been built – and children started lessons in it this January! We share a film about this work.

And we also see some of the process that goes into creating a game almost entirely within Second Life, and look at this in relation to their upcoming game – The Interview. And we learn the secret of the dreaded pink prim!

Then we head off to explore the game of The Ghost Town, part of the Firestorm Community Gateway – which is open to all!

Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 30th November, for Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams as we explore the fascinating new project from the Firestorm team – their Community Gateway.

Firestorm, makers of the hugely popular Firestorm viewer, were given the opportunity to create their own new user experience – and they have certainly done a fantastic job over five whole regions. Some of this will be familiar to any of you who took part in the Firestorm Hunt (which finishes today, incidentally).

We’re joined by Jessica Lyon, the head of Firestorm, and by two of the team working on the Gateway, Horseplay Yamauba and Flossy Andrew. Together we explore how the regions give basic instruction, and then encourage new residents to explore some of the pleasures of Second Life for themselves!

There’s some fantastic creativity on display here and some interesting discussion about how best to introduce new users to Second Life! So … do join us at 2pm today.

We talk to Aelva, head of the Night Theater, who has brought together many of the best dancers and choreographers in Second Life to create awesome shows for events such as One Billion Rising and Fantasy Faire (with a packed region every day for the beautiful ballet Fantasme)about how dances are constructed in Second Life … we will even get a chance to try one for ourselves!

We also talk to Royal Flush, the choreographer, about how the whole dance experience is created, and to Amethyst Dovgal, a dancer new to the Night Theater who is working on her first dance for the company and who explains some of the things that it is necessary to learn to bring a dance from a concept in the head to a performance in Second Life!
