The latest episode of Designing Worlds – the second of our visits to Fantasy Faire (recorded before the Faire closed on May 1st) – is now on the web.

In this show, we talk to Zander Greene, one of the co-founders of the Faire and also now one of the people behind the fabulous Fantasy Faire Radio, Sweetgwendoline Bailey and Eldowyn Inshan, who designed Twilight Illusion – one of the fourteen amazing regions, Aelva, who organised (and participated in!) the amazing Festival of Dance and Particles, Aisling Sinclair, who produced this year’s much-loved Quest, and Stevie Basevi and other roleplayers who joined us from the mud of Echtra to tell us about roleplay at the Faire.

And there is an extract from the wonderful production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was presented at Fantasy Faire by the Faireland Players.

Ironically, we filmed this show in the quiet days before the Faire opened … so no-one was quite sure that it would be the fantastic success that it was, raising over L$7,714,000 (US$30,875) and producing some amazing stories – many of which you can read on the website.  In fact, the whole website is filled with the story of Fantasy Faire, and well worth a look!

The latest episode of Designing Worlds – where we visit the festival for One Billion Rising in Second Life, which took place on 14th February – is now on the web.

One Billion Rising in Second Life is a twenty-four hour one day event in support of the international event One Billion Rising, which aims to build awareness of the violence that women and girls across the globe are subjected to.  In Second Life, across four regions there were art installations and exhibitions,  poetry sessions, storytelling events,  live dance  performances, twenty four hours of music – and also information kiosks that shared information about organisations devoted to promoting justice for women across the globe, and stories of events that were happening around the world.

In the show, we look at some of the elements that went into the event – the amazing video that was shot ahead of the event, part of the particle display by Tansee that was given at the event, one of the dances that were performed in the beautiful Sunflower Theatre, and a full performance of a special play by Bhelanna Blaze, performed by the Cold Shot Ensemble – and, of course, the beautiful and thought provoking art installations that were located all around the perimeter of the event.
