The sculptures of Wizard Gynoid

The sculptures of Wizard Gynoid

Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 19th February, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams in Second Life, as we continue our celebration of ten years of the show – looking back to 2010.

It was billed by Linden Lab as the Year of Delight = and whether or not that was a true prediction will, we hope, emerge within the show. But here are some clues – two changes of CEO, massive lay-offs, viewer wars, rows at the SL7B … it all makes for a fascinating discussion with our resident historian, Marianne McCann.

And there are other treats in the shape of extracts from shows in 2010, including not just Second Life but visits to other grids like the Reaction Grid and the beautiful Heritage Key, as well as fascinating Second Life locations.

And there’s even a little fore-warning of the coming of mesh, with what was a very rare occurrence in those days – the appearance of a Linden on the show!

So do come and join us for a fascinating show in our special anniversary season at 2pm SLT.

Or – if you can’t attend in person – tune in to the web at 2pm SLT on Monday for a showing on SLartist – or catch it later in the week on the SLArtist.com channel, the Aview TV Designing Worlds channel – or on the Designing Worlds blog.

Sadly, none of the places from this 2010 show remains on the grid, with the exception of the medical centre of Imperial College London, and that is now closed to visitors.

Designing Worlds Special - Murder in the Muirsheen Durkin

Designing Worlds Special – Murder in the Muirsheen Durkin

The latest episode of Designing Worlds, as we become involved in solving a Murder in the Muirsheen Durkin (a special episode set in New Babbage) is now on the web!

And, usually, it’s available in two formats – colour and monochrome.

DW357 – Murder at the Muirsheen Durkin from Richard Elen on Vimeo.

We showed both to our initial audience back at the beginning of the year – and they were generally in favour of the special black and white edition … but there were some people who voted for the rich colour.

What do you think? Take a look – and share your views below the line!

THE PLOT

The Muisheen Durkin is, of course, the restuarant/bar in Brunel Hall, the large hotel thatis part of the business empire of Mr Victor Mornington, the Assistant Maceholder of New Babbage. So when his temporary Christmas barman, Mr Biggins, discovers a murder victim … then they are duty bound to hand over the prime suspect to Miss Bookworm Heinrichs, the head of the Militia.

But has Mr Mornington’s pet rabbit Thumper turned vorpal? Or is there another explanation? Can Miss Widdershins and Mr Merlin help to solve the mystery, or will they just complicate things further? Fortunately, there’s a formidable forensics expert they can turn to …
