The latest episode of Designing Worlds – our very special 250th episode – is now on the web.

Set on the island of Matanzas (which we first visited in our THIRD episode way back in 2008), we talk to Ebbe Altberg (aka Ebbe Linden), the CEO of Linden Lab, about Second Life, and about plans for the future platform.

It’s a full and wide-ranging discussion, as we discuss the future of Second Life, problems that have arisen – especially failures of communication – and, of course, the new platform that is being developed by Linden Lab.

You can read a full transcript of the show, kindly compiled by Inara Prey, here. And after the show, Ebbe dropped into the Designing Worlds studio for a discussion and an open question and answer session – our thanks to him for coming in – the audience really appreciated it!

In this episode, the first of a new season of Designing Worlds, Saffia and Elrik visit one of the most intrepid – and largest – flying groups in Second Life: the Flying Tigers, whose amazing planes and re-creations of combat in aircraft from the Second World War are matched only by the astonishing story of the original Flying Tigers in real life.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

See the planes on the ground and in action – including exciting air combat re-creations, aerobatics and fly-pasts in vintage and modern aircraft; visit the Academy; learn the stories of both the historical and virtual Tigers from some of the latter’s key personnel – and discover how you can become a Flying Tiger yourself!

And, sadly, this might be one of the last chances to see the magnificent Isle.  You can find out why in today’s programme.

On the show, we explore with Circe and Vince Merrick the different stage areas including the Luxor and Memphis stages, and the Cairo Theatre – and we also visit the well-known Sunset Jazz Club as well as seeing the area where popular poetry and story-telling sessions take place.

And we also discuss changes in Second Life that are causing areas like Laurel Arts Isle to close.
