The new episode of Designing Worlds, as we continue our celebration of ten years of the show – looking back to 2008 and 2009 (Part 2) – is now on the web!

DW359 – 10th Anniv Special #2 – 2009 from Richard Elen on Vimeo.

In today’s episode we’ll be helped by Marianne McCann, Second Life historian, who will share with us some of the features that arrived and frictions that enraged the residents of Second Life in those years, and by Wildstar Beaumont who has ransacked his photo archive for us!

And you’ll have a chance to see extracts from those early shows, including our very first visit to the Home and Garden Expo, a glimpse of the 2008 Relay for Life builds, our very first Babbage show … and much more!

And we end with one of the most moving regions we have ever visited … and it’s still there!

Places to visit featured on today’s show:
Most of these have gone, but you can still visit New Babbage (although you’d be wish NOT to explore any tunnels that run under Clockhaven)

Designing Worlds Special - Murder in the Muirsheen Durkin

Designing Worlds Special – Murder in the Muirsheen Durkin

The latest episode of Designing Worlds, as we become involved in solving a Murder in the Muirsheen Durkin (a special episode set in New Babbage) is now on the web!

And, usually, it’s available in two formats – colour and monochrome.

DW357 – Murder at the Muirsheen Durkin from Richard Elen on Vimeo.

We showed both to our initial audience back at the beginning of the year – and they were generally in favour of the special black and white edition … but there were some people who voted for the rich colour.

What do you think? Take a look – and share your views below the line!

THE PLOT

The Muisheen Durkin is, of course, the restuarant/bar in Brunel Hall, the large hotel thatis part of the business empire of Mr Victor Mornington, the Assistant Maceholder of New Babbage. So when his temporary Christmas barman, Mr Biggins, discovers a murder victim … then they are duty bound to hand over the prime suspect to Miss Bookworm Heinrichs, the head of the Militia.

But has Mr Mornington’s pet rabbit Thumper turned vorpal? Or is there another explanation? Can Miss Widdershins and Mr Merlin help to solve the mystery, or will they just complicate things further? Fortunately, there’s a formidable forensics expert they can turn to …

DW357A – Murder at the Muirsheen Durkin – special monochrome version from Richard Elen on Vimeo.

The latest episode of Designing Worlds, where we explore some of the regions that are great places to visit to get you in the holiday mood, is now on the web!

First of all we take a trip to Groenland Kangamiut, better known to many of you as Greenland, created by Kaelyn Alecto. Then we move on to Banditoswald Citadel, a beautiful winter region created for the season by Andrej, which contains some great rides, skating lakes – and even dragon rides – as Elrik finds out! We should point out, however, that this region is flagged adult as there are some private romantic spots that people can discover.

Then we visit The Dickens Project on LEA 7 and talk to the two people behind it – Caledonia Skytower and Aoife Lorefield before we take a super tour of the whole region. Then finally we visit the Linden Winter Wonderland region (accessed through the Portal Park), and talk to Xiola Linden about some of the treats that the region offers (and we try out the snowball fight and the snowboarding course) – and other Linden plans for Christmas, especially Second Life’s annual Holiday Shop & Hop event. It’s a chance to fill your stockings and your shopping bags with clothing, hair, furniture, decor, and more. Event held Dec. 15 to Jan. 1.

And we end with a little trailer for our New Year Special – which is going to be a tale of Murder in the Muirsheen Durkin, the popular restaurant in New Babbage … It will be shown on Monday January 1st 2018 at our usual time of 2pm SLT. Watch this space for more information!
